Micro rings (also known as micro bead hair extensions, micro loop hair extensions and micro link hair extensions) are small metal rings that are threaded through the hair extension, along with some of your own hair, and clamped shut in order to secure. This is the least damaging extension attachment method as no harsh chemicals are used. 

Our micro rings hair extensions are virtually undetectable due to their small size. This helps them to look natural and blend seamlessly into your own hair. Each micro ring is individually attached to ensure proper fit,  comfort and discretion.

How long do micro ring hair extensions last?

When attached properly and well maintained, micro rings can last up to 5 years. However, to ensure the health of your natural hair and the extensions themselves, we recommend not wearing the extensions for more than 2 months at a time before refitting. 

This guide depends on a number of factors. For example, If they are made with lower quality hair such as European or Asian hair, then they will not last as long as those made with Russian hair. 

Additionally, regular in-salon maintenance appointments and a good hair extension aftercare routine is essential to ensure longevity. Hair extensions may only last a couple of months if proper maintenance is not carried out.

Are micro ring hair extensions damaging?

Micro rings are the least damaging hair extension available. They will not damage your scalp, your natural hair or the extension hair if applied correctly. 

Micro rings are not applied using any chemicals or glues. They are secured using metal rings that are clamped shut. The hair is able to grow naturally from the root and should not be pulled too tight meaning that the scalp and your natural hair is protected.

How much do micro ring extensions cost?

Micro ring extensions are an investment. They can last a long time when looked after correctly therefore, you should expect to pay more than you would for less-permanent extension methods such as clip-in extensions.

How do you wash your hair with micro ring extensions?

We recommend washing your hair 2-3 times per week, being sure to first detangle with a wide tooth comb. Always wash upright (not over the bathtub) as this can cause the extensions to tangle.

Apply your shampoo as normal, but don’t rub it in vigorously. With conditioner, smooth it down the lengths of your hair, avoiding the roots as this can cause the extensions to slip. We recommend using sulphate, paraben, TEA, DEA and cruelty free products such as those by Neal & Wolf for best results.

Make sure to dry your hair as soon as possible after washing as leaving hair extension bonds wet for long periods of time can cause them to degrade.

Are micro ring extensions suitable for thin hair?

Micro rings are suitable for thin hair as they are a damage-free attachment method. However, on extremely thin hair or in cases of hair loss, the attachment may be visible. In such cases, we recommend miniature micro ring extensions.

How do you take care of micro ring hair extensions?

Taking care of your micro ring hair extensions is easy as you can treat them almost as if they were your own hair. You simply need to make some small adjustments to your hair care routine to ensure they stay looking their best.

One of the key things is to make sure that products are not applied closely to the micro rings as this can cause them to slip. You should also try to keep the attachments dry (or dry them as quickly as possible after a shower) and frequently brush your hair to ensure the attachments do not become tangled.
